Dave Danna had already added great weight to his body before his fitness spirits woke up. But the MBA graduate decided to shed all the extra weight, and the results are evident. He lost “121 lbs in 14 months” and was super happy to share his transformation online. 

“I’m doing this to save my life,” Danna wrote in the comment section of Joey Swoll’s post on enjoying a slice of cake while “making room for LIFE,” on X, formerly Twitter. He coupled the caption with a before and after the weight transformation collage. The smile of the fitness enthusiast got the attention of the 40-year-old bodybuilding icon, Swoll who had commented on Danna’s post.

Dave! Amazing work brother. Amazing! My favorite part is the smile tho man,” he wrote. Though the hard work put in by Danna stunned Swoll, it was his smile in the after-weight loss picture that impressed the bodybuilding icon who called the former an inspiration. Swoll, spearheading the gym positivity movement, encourages such motivational posts online. But his first learnings to do good to others came from his mom.

Joey Swoll started making gym positivity videos after witnessing the darkest times of life during the pandemic. However, his mother has been an inspiration for him to live and contribute to others’ growth. While moving to tears, the icon recently confessed how his mother helped a kid during his teenage years and taught him his first lesson about compassion.

Narrating the story, Swoll recounted how he and his mom were at a baseball tournament played on “the worst field in the city,” in his teens. During the match, a black kid broke his ankle, and it was Swoll’s mom who rescued him from the field and called an ambulance for him. “My favorite story about my mom,” he wrote in the caption of the post.
