Jay Cutler recently took to his official Twitter handle @mrojaycutler and shared a video where he is seen giving fresh tips to his followers. He talks about the importance of focusing on the hamstring muscles and gives out tips on what can be done if a gym does not have a machine for it.

He says, “An unorthodox Hamstring exercise. So I wanted to point out that there were a lot of times that I was on the road training. I didn’t have hamstring equipment available.”

Almost every gym has hamstring equipment, be it a leg press or a conventional machine press. Sometimes though, people cannot focus with the help of the machine. So, he tried an exercise that worked out pretty well for him. He placed the dumbbell between his feet, lying down on a bench, and kept curling.

He added, “This exercise is really good. You lock the dumbbell in between the feet. You focus on curling the dumbbell. Now start with a lighter weight because you really have to trap that dumbbell in and continue with that contraction.” However, he even added a precaution to this workout for safety purposes.

The unorthodox workout should be performed only with light weights

Jay Cutler advises it is better to work this out with lesser weight and more concentration in the initial stages. This is because the dumbbell requires a good amount of grip. Otherwise, it might just fall off.

He says, “Focus on eight to twelve repositions with this. Really feel your hamstrings or mostly quads. So really feel those quads when you pull the hamstrings.

He further adds, “Don’t yank the weight up because you will drop the dumbbell and you’ll lose the dumbbell but more importantly feel that contraction, get a good stretch.”

He advises everyone to try it out, as the workout seems to have done wonders for him. Cutler guarantees that if you try it out once, this definitely will become a part of your leg routine. Let us know what you think about the unconventional method of Jay Cutler in the comments section below!
