Bodybuilders lifting heavy weights are always prone to injuries. Many renowned bodybuilders like Frank Zane, Ronnie Coleman, and Dorian Yates retired after suffering major injuries. But that doesn’t resolve the pain associated. So, bodybuilders like Coleman and Dexter Jackson opted for stem cell therapy to relieve the pain and live a wholesome life. Now, Yates is also following the suit of ‘The King.’

Dorian Yates suffered critical injuries like the bicep and tricep tear during his prime, which eventually made him let go of bodybuilding in totality. A month ago, he flew to Columbia to undergo stem cell treatment for relieving the pain in his hip and shoulders. Now, in a recent Instagram post, he updated his fans about his second visit to the clinic.

Dorian Yates updates about his stem cell treatment

‘The Shadow’ has updated his fans on his ongoing treatment on Instagram after a live workout in the gym. He revealed that he had a stem cell treatment at BioXcellerator in his right shoulder, right elbow, right hip, and left knee, apart from some intravenous stem cells, a month ago.

The 6x Mr.Olympia opened up that he has been feeling better after the first session. “A month in I have a sense of well-being, increased energy, my shoulder is definitely better, my hip is improved in mobility,” he said in the post. 

Though not 100% recovered yet, the Shadow is definitely feeling the benefits and hopes to get great progress in the coming months. Despite the pain inflicted, the English bodybuilder feels grateful for the injuries, per Generation Iron Fitness Network.

In 1997 while prepping for his 6th Mr. Olympia win, Yates suffered a severe tricep injury doing the old-fashioned barbell pullover or press. The injury cut short his competitive journey. However, The 6x Mr. Olympia champion sees it as a blessing in disguise.

Yates believes that retirement is good for his overall well-being. Otherwise, he would have trained even harder, without being concerned about his future health. After leaving the quest for winning the Sandow trophy, the 61-year-old started comprehensively focusing on health. He took to Yoga and meditation to lead a fit and happy life.

Many elite bodybuilders often suffer the brunt of overexertion during training in the form of injuries. Stem cell treatment has come as a respite to bodybuilders like Ronnie Coleman, who suffered a herniated disc during training. Now, Yates is also affirming an improved condition due to therapy. Hope he recovers from the pain very soon.
