Joey Swoll is among one of the most dominant figures in the world of bodybuilding. What makes him stand out is his extensive sense of etiquette towards the realm of the sport. He has been using it ever since he got into bodybuilding and never misses an opportunity to point out any individual who does not abide by the basic rules that must be followed in the gym.
He has been educating the entire fitness community with his videos online and has also encouraged a lot of them to speak out when they see someone doing wrong to another individual inside the gym. In one of the recent episodes of ‘Straight Outta the Lair‘ by Flex Lewis, Joey Swoll was featured and the video was captioned, “Creating a positive fitness community with Joey Swoll.” In the video, Lewis mentioned a member from the management of a gym, who has been following him since the beginning of time, who wrote eight commandments that were a must be abided by in the gym inspired by his videos. This impressed him and he said, “We are the OGs.”
Listening to these stories and how he has significantly impacted the people in the fitness community and has brought about a positive change, he felt utterly grateful. He said, “I like to tell people I’ve gained a lot of perspective and wisdom and experience over the past you know 11 12 years that have kind of created the person I am today and um unfortunately, you know, some of that has been making mistakes and you know and falling and trusting the wrong people and and you know getting f***** over in certain senses.”

He even stated that he would not trade it for anything and that he appreciates all the struggle that he has gone through because that is what made him think and become who he is today. Well, the route definitely was not easy for him. Joey Swoll was caught up in addiction and he never thought he could get out of it. But well, miracles truly happen if you want them bad enough.

It is rightly said that one can come out even from hell if they have enough support and determination too. Well, there was barely a scarcity for either of Swoll’s journeys. In 2023 January, he confessed that he was addicted to opioids in 2020 and was absolutely depressed to the extent that he even tried to end his life.

However, with sheer determination to come back, very slowly and steadily, he got out clean, took a complete break from social media, and worked on his mental health and stability. It was in 2022 when he got back and started doing what he had been best at. He had the best year of his life. And well, the rest, as you all know it, is history.
