The road to recovery from post-surgery wounds from her thighs up to her shoulders of the fitness influencer Lexi Reed is a standing testament to it. She was diagnosed with calciphylaxis, which is a very rare disease that builds up excessive calcium in blood vessels and blocks blood flow to the skin. 

This disease caused kidney failure and the only way out is to have a kidney transplant. Her disease led Reed to a medically induced coma, after undergoing 59 weeks of treatment. She was left with more than 30 wounds on her body and left her unable to walk or even stand up by herself. However, it was her passion for getting fit that helped her get back on track.

Lexi Reed, after going through surgery, embarked on a fitness journey to lose 300 Lbs of her weight, which she had to pause because of her disease. However, her sheer determination to get healthy brought her back to the gym in the month of August and she is taking small steps at a time to achieve her goal.

She goes to the gym with her husband Danny Reed, who motivates her to get back on her journey and she thinks that she is making a good progress. However, she still needs a little support from her husband. Her legs have not completely recovered yet.

She says, “I think this week I’m going to try the elliptical with you, because I think it’s time. He’ll have to just watch me because my leg still gives out, but I’m getting stronger. And then eventually we can do weights and stuff together.” She is indeed getting back on track and she is all excited to resume the fitness challenge that she had taken up.
