Four-time Mr. Olympia Jay Cutler is arguably one of the best people to listen to when it comes to fitness advice. He frequently shares his training routine and diet choices with his fans too. Cutler is transparent with his audience and also wants to educate them about staying fit.

In a recent video Cutler posted on Twitter, he listed his top three movements for training abs that he believes also helped him during his prime years. Cutler also asserts that complementing a good diet with an effective workout is also essential to getting an impressive midsection.

Despite weighing in at a whopping 260 pounds, Jay Cutler had one of the best midsections in his entire lineup back in the day. While probably everyone hates training abs, a bodybuilder’s physique is not complete without proper abdominal muscles. Cutler started the video by stating, “Abs aren’t only made in the kitchen; they’re made in the gym.” Jay Cutler’s list began by mentioning the ever-green and super-simple situps. Slow and controlled reps are the key to feeling that burn while training abs.

“Rope crunches really, really work, and the most dreaded hanging leg raises. These are the hardest, but they’re the ones that really bring out the most abs. Remember, focus on 15 to 20 repetitions. Remember, weights aren’t always needed for these movements,” Cutler added.

After 12 weeks of intense training and dieting, Cutler has finally fulfilled his commitment to himself, that is to transform his physique before his 50th birthday. The journey, however, was not a bed of roses, for sure. Transforming yourself at such an age is far from easy. However, the years of knowledge and experience helped Cutler throughout the process. Cutler revealed that he relied on the same breakfast that helped him win four Olympia titles during his prime years.

What is the breakfast the champion followed?

A good diet is the key to recovery, which further results in muscle hypertrophy. For this very reason, eating enough calories and consuming enough protein is essential in this sport. Cutler previously shared an old video of himself from his prime on Instagram. Cutler mentioned in the caption, “What’s your “Breakfast of Champions”?”

Revealing his breakfast in the video, Cutler mentioned, “100 carbs of Ezekiel cereal, 60 carbs of bread, 15 egg whites, and 1 whole egg here. And, uh, 3 pieces of turkey bacon.” While Cutler has experimented with his diet over the years, this seems to be the most effective meal for him so far. This is why he relied on this breakfast again for his 12-week transformation.
