Fitness freak Mark Wahlberg has worked out for decades. While many stars workout for movie roles, Wahlberg has signed multiple roles because he wanted to challenge himself physically. Even at 52, the $400 million worth Hollywood action star shows no signs of slowing down. Before turning 52 in June, Walhberg stepped into the role of Chief Brand Officer to save the dying fitness brand F45. However, in April, while speaking to People Magine, the bodybuilding enthusiast revealed a regret.
While Wahlberg loved working out before becoming a movie star, in his youth, the musician-turned-actor pushed his body. For the 52-year-old, the goal was to attain peak performance. However, now the Uncharted star feels he may have taken the wrong approach.

“I’m starting to realize that I’m 51 years old, I need to stay in my lane,”?Wahlberg said during an interview with People Magazine. When he was younger, the Transformers actor felt a sense of competitiveness. Besides achieving peak aesthetics and strength, he felt the need to prove he could lift heavier than everyone in the gym. However, he said it wasn’t the best approach.
While Wahlberg might have bragged about some heavy lifts, it wasn’t beneficial in the long run. Instead of pushing his body to the limit, Wahlberg wishes he would’ve followed the progressive overload principle and made slow but steady gains. However, as they say, the $400 million net worth actor realized his mistake late, but better than never. Now Wahlberg exercises differently.
Instead of focusing on heavy lifts, Wahlberg now works on longevity and training muscle groups that are often undertrained. As a result, even at 52, the actor has a shredded physique.?“I just wish I would’ve listened to the people who were trying to tell me these things and give me this kind of advice 20 years ago,”?Wahlberg told People Magazine. However, with a new approach, Whalhberg feels fitter than before.

Instead of pushing his body to lift massive weights, Mark Walhberg wakes up regularly at 4 A.M to workout. Despite waking up so early, Wahlberg has not run into problems.?“I think because I’m training smarter, I’m getting the rest that I need,”?said the fitness freak. Much like the fitness company he invested in, Walhberg practices functional fitness.
