As unusual as it sounds, a weight loss drug has taken pop culture by storm. Ozempic has gained a reputation as a miracle drug thanks to the drastic transformation people have achieved after taking it. However, bodybuilding veteran John Romano doesn’t think that Ozempic or other similar drugs are beneficial in the long term.
Celebrities like Elon Musk, NBA icon Charles Barkley, Khloé Kardashian, Amy Schumer, and many more have used the drug. So, why has the drug become so popular? That’s because the rate of weight loss with Ozempic has been unmatched. The nearly instant transformation of these celebrities has made the drug incredibly desirable. However, Romano sees it as a big problem.

The bodybuilding veteran spoke about the weight loss drug during an interview with Muscle & Fitness. Romano said that as more people have started using the drug, many are reporting side effects. “I’ve heard (of) diarrhea, cramping,” said the bodybuilder. He explained that since people get results they tend to put up with the side effects.
However, that runs into the problem. “The pill is going to become the shortcut,” said the Dragon Slayer Media co-founder. This shortcut might in turn take away people’s patience. Instead of taking the longer and, according to Romano, the healthier route of diet and exercise, people will keep opting for Ozempic. “So basically, it’s a giant bandaid,” said the bodybuilding enthusiast.
Since Ozempic works by suppressing appetite, as long as people use it, they eat less and lose weight rapidly. Hence, the drug doesn’t help the user med their eating habits. Romano said that there is no long-term benefit if a person has to keep using a drug to keep the weight off for the rest of their life. In fact, many people think the drug is the only thing that their favorite celebrity loses weight after using Ozempic when that’s not the case.

How Elon Musk and Charles Barkley used Ozempic
While speaking about Ozempic, Charles Barkley and Elon Musk have said that it’s not a thing they relied on. The Tesla owner and the former NBA player combined the weight loss drug with a healthy diet and regular exercise. In fact, even after they stopped using Ozempic, they’ve kept up their fitness regimen.

While Ozempic helped them reach their goal weight after, the drug can’t beat a healthy lifestyle. This is the point John Romano tried to make while speaking about the drug. While Ozempic may be just as effective as everyone claims, developing a healthy eating habit and maintaining your fitness is the only way to keep the weight off in the long term without severe side effects.
