Arnold Classic winner and People’s Champion Nick Walker recently shocked the bodybuilding world. The bodybuilder withdrew from the Mr. Olympia at the last moment devastating fans who expected him to make it into the top three this year as well. But on 31st October, Walker, nicknamed ‘The Mutant’ uploaded a video announcing why he withdrew from the Super Bowl of bodybuilding.

In the video, an emotional Nick Walker announced to the fans that right before leaving for Orlando, he had suffered a massive injury. While The Mutant didn’t plan to give up and traveled despite the injury, and got all kinds of treatments, nothing worked in the end. Walker was forced to pull out. However, now that the dust has settled and Derek Lunsford was crowned the 2023 Mr. Olympia, Walker has an update for fans.

The 2022 Mr. Olympia bronze medalist has some good news

Earlier, the 2022 People’s Champion uploaded another video to Instagram. The 29-year-old started by congratulating Derek Lunsford for his historic win. Walker said he was happy and proud that Lunsford became the first two-division champion in the history of the Mr. Olympia contest. The Arnold Classic winner followed it up with some positive news about his injury.

Walker revealed he got an MRI done to see how severely he had injured his hamstring muscle. “I do have a partial hamstring tear and a grade-one strain, little tear in my calf as well,” said the fan-favorite bodybuilder. Thankfully, Walker assured his fans that the injury was less severe than what he had initially thought. “Nothing crazy, nothing too significant that would require surgery. So that’s great news,” said Walker.

The Mutant also revealed that the doctor “was actually very impressed with already how quick the healing process has already begun.” While he won’t be up and running for a while, not requiring surgery means the recovery process will be much faster. It seems the 29-year-old’s fans won’t have to wait too long to see him back on stage. Walker also revealed his plans moving forward.

How Nick Walker plans to bounce back

While the 2022 Mr. Olympia People’s Champion feels gutted after bowing out due to a last-minute injury, his spirit remains strong. Walker said he’ll continue to rest and rehabilitate his injury. “Anyone who knows me knows I always come back stronger,” the bodybuilder said on camera.

The 29-year-old admitted that he is planning to get back in the gym despite the injury. While he won’t be able to train his lower body, the Mutant plans to “test the limits” of his upper body to figure out what he “can and cannot do,” at the moment.
