After retirement, most iconic bodybuilders remained connected to the world and continued getting updated on the latest news. However, Mr. USA is one of the few bodybuilders like Dorian Yates, who abstained from the industry after retirement. Milos Sarcev seemed very shocked that Newman did not want to associate with the world anymore. He started the conversation by saying, ?You?re the second guy Dorian Yates being one who doesn?t follow bodybuilding at all.? Then, Sarcev asked the reason why. First Newman revealed that he was sick of all the people dying.
Then Newman answered, ?I looked at it in a different way. Before I was a bodybuilding, I was a surfer. I surfed and it was almost like, it was one like one with the ocean and, then like the bodybuilding was more of the artistic things and then it was fun with like, the camaraderie. Once it got into the Dorian scene and stuff, and it got out of my, my cup of tea, I guess.?
Maybe by the ?Dorian Yates scene,? he meant how the IFBB pro had chronic injuries and retired after the 1997 Mr. Olympia. Dorian had taken bodybuilding to a whole new level with his HIT? training but injuries forced him to quit.? Dennis Newman not only had one reason for leaving bodybuilding but also his health reasons such as having leukemia and a heart attack, which might have taken a toll on him.
