In the 1970s and 80s, Rory Leidelmeyer was the name that caught everyone’s attention in bodybuilding. Rory was born in Holland and moved to the United States at a very young age. He wanted to become an NFL player, and later joined the California High School Football team, and became a Quarterback. However, due to a leg injury, he decided to quit his football journey and started a bodybuilding career.

Before competing, the Golden Era Legend meticulously planned everything and dedicated four years to training and building his physique for a bodybuilding competition. In 1979, he took part in Mr. Los Angeles and secured the second position. The following year, in 1980, he achieved victory by winning the Mr. California title. He even stepped on stage donning a skin-colored Speedo. Subsequently, he decided to retire from bodybuilding and transitioned into a career as a fitness coach and full-time trainer.

Rory opens up about his strength

His caption starts with “How do you know if your mission in life is finished?”. He stated “If you’re still alive, it isn’t. So I put one foot in front of the other, climbing to higher lengths. Reaching beyond my limitations” According to his Instagram post-65-year-old former Mr America faced a lot of challenges in his life and always overcome those problems. “to show my inner strength. No obstacle too hard, for this warrior to overcome. I’m just a man on a mission to serve Christ Jesus, my lord, and saviour 🙏💪 ,”.

The former bodybuilder never misses any opportunity to inspire the new generation with his quotes and messages. He prioritized his family and loved ones and quit bodybuilding. He became a full-time coach and personal trainer and trained NFL players and others.

According to The Dutch American fitness coach, family comes first, and he proved it every time. After a decade of intense workouts and patience, he won the title of Mr. America in 1988. He kind of left the competition field and started his journey as a fitness coach. During this period, he got married and since then he was devoted to his family. The 54 years old fitness coach has 2 daughters.

Former Mr. America prioritized his family over bodybuilding

He wanted to become an NFL player, but after an injury, he quits football and started bodybuilding. After an intense workout session and 4 years of hard work, he finally starts competing. In the Golden Era, he became so popular amongst everybody. In His bodybuilding career, Rory won several titles. He idealized the late legendary bodybuilder, Steve Reeves. He worked on a few films. He decided to leave showbiz and bodybuilding to spend his life with family and loved ones. The fan really admires the legendary bodybuilder.
