Microsoft’s acquisition of Bethesda will be a significant move in shaping the future of Xbox. Not only has it gotten more studios under Xbox, but has also set the Series X|S up with potential future exclusives. Phil Spencer already commented on the possibility of future Bethesda titles being exclusive to Xbox. However, Bethesda director Todd Howard thinks otherwise.
In an interview with Gamesindustry.biz, Todd shared his views on the Game Pass ecosystem and how it has changed the industry. Although, his stance on the question about The Elder Scrolls 6’s exclusivity was something that’ll give PlayStation fans something to cheer about.

“I can’t really project where things will be except to say we’ve done those sort of exercises ourselves as an independent. If you look at every Elder Scrolls game, there has been some exclusivity on Xbox or with Microsoft. We’ve partnered with every game.
“Morrowind was basically a console exclusive, Oblivion was a long timed exclusive, Skyrim’s DLC was exclusive for a long period of time. We’ll decide what makes the best sense for our audience when the time comes, and I can’t really project today what that looks like.”
Additionally, he also agreed that he struggled to imagine Elder Scrolls 6 as an Xbox exclusive title. This was definitely something PlayStation fans wanted to hear. PC fans need not worry considering Xbox exclusives are no longer limited to consoles and will make their way to PC as well. The best example of this is Halo: Infinite.
All the Elder Scrolls titles were extremely complex. The gameplay, mechanics, in-game quests, storyline, DLCs etc made it one of the longest titles ever. This made it possible for Xbox to have exclusive content for itself, like Oblivion and Morrowind.

Similarly, Microsoft could repeat the same by keeping some content exclusive to Xbox and PC. However, complete exclusivity of the game seems highly unlikely and quite frankly, Microsoft wouldn’t want to miss out on additional sales revenue.
