‘The Gentleman’ started his amateur mixed martial arts career back in 2015. He won all 4 of his fights, securing three finishes (2 submissions and 1 T/KO).

Following his amateur career, the Prime Fighting promotion signed Vanderford in 2017. After remaining undefeated in organizations like Prime Fighting, Rogue Promotions, Cagesport, and Victory Fighting Championship, Vanderford got a tremendous opportunity to fight in Dana White’s Contender Series.

He earned a second-round submission win on the show. However, ‘The Gentleman’ was not offered a UFC contract. After one more fight in the FFC promotion, he was called up by Bellator MMA. This was Vanderford’s first opportunity to make a name for himself on the world stage.

A decision win against Grachik Bozinyan at Bellator 234 followed. He earned yet another decision over Vinicius de Jesus at Bellator 251.
