Bellator MMA has a great event in store for MMA fans with the return of former Invicta FC champion Vanessa Porto. She’ll fight former UFC fighter Liz Carmouche in a featured fight for the women’s flyweight division. This will be Porto’s first fight in the organization.

Carmouche is no veteran as she, too, has only fought once in Bellator. That fight took place after she left the UFC following her loss to Valentina Shevchenko for the flyweight women’s championship. Interestingly, Carmouche has fought for a title three times, and she has lost all three fights.

This fight will be interesting, as no one can gauge whether Porto’s long lay-off is a factor. Additionally, she went out on top when she left Invicta FC and was the champion. Regardless of all this, she is still the underdog in this fight.

Liz Carmouche: Fighting style and career

Carmouche was one of those fighters in the UFC who had a very deceptive record. She had a record of 14-7, but it took away from the fact that she was an amazing fighter. She still is. Before her fight against Shevchenko, she had beaten the UFC champion in their first meeting in two rounds.

Her first fight in Bellator was a similar showing with a submission victory in the third round over DeAnna Bennett. A former Marine, she is a fighter who relies on extensive Jiu-Jitsu skills to get her out of tough positions. Additionally, she has never lost a fight via a knockout.

Vanessa Porto: Fighting style and career

On the other hand, Porto doesn’t sport a remarkable CV like her opponent. She has spent her career in multiple organizations, but she was primarily in the Invicta FC.

Her flyweight title took some doing as she had fought and lost for the belt before. Unfortunately for her, she had lost a fight for the Interim flyweight championship as well.

Like Carmouche, she is a fighter with some of the greatest submission skills in the organizations. She has won half of her 22 fights via submission.

This would be an interesting fight with two fighters who are evenly matched. Keep an eye out for this one, as it will deliver with some fireworks and entertainment. This Friday, Bellator 256 is the place to be.
