Belinda Bencic, the Swiss youngster whose young career has been marred with injury related issues so far, spoke about playing with Roger Federer and more in an exclusive interview with Blick. The 21-year-old tennis player was asked where she would be during the festive season of Christmas this year. “I am not sure about it yet, but I want to spend the Christmas with my family in my country”, said Belinda Bencic.
She then spoke about how playing at the Hopman Cup, before the Australian Open, with Roger Federer, means a lot to her. “
Then I go to Perth on December 26 for the Hopman Cup with Roger Federer“, said Belinda Bencic. “That’s my highlight moment of the year, even if there are no points at stake!”, she says with a smile. The Swiss won the tournament last year alongside Federer. They defeated Germany’s pair of Alexander Zverev, who is coming off one of the biggest titles of his career so far at the ATP World Tour Finals and Angelique Kerber in an exciting final.ADVERTISEMENT

“In Australia I could get better results- in the last years I always had to play against Williams.”“Even if- looking back at my first round against Venus(Williams), it was my best match of the year’,said Bencic.
Belinda Bencic has had a lot of injury relate issues, that have hampered her success. She spoke about how, on screen you only get the players’ half of the side.
‘I could never imagine it, I grew up inside. As a baby girl, I was living time to time”, she said. “You only see how you play, you do not know what there is behind- the team, trips, many training sessions, the work with endorsements’, she said. She said her priority right now was to preserve her body, when she was asked about her primary goal for next season. “First of all, be injury-free! You cannot imagine how much I am happy to play well”, said Bencic. “It was a pleasure not to get pressure until Wimbledon‘, concluded Bencic, who is currently ranked 44th on the WTA singles ranking.
