If you thought only F1 was back in action in Belgium this weekend, you are wrong. Because ‘F1’ is also back! The highly anticipated movie is in Spa for filming. Meanwhile, Joseph Kosinski and Brad Pitt continue to bring their ‘touch of realism’ to their projects. The crew will surely follow the entire drill they used in other circuits here in Belgium. However, this time the filmmakers have come up with a new idea. Or shall we say, another Lewis Hamilton‘s idea?
The stars of the movie, Brad Pitt aka Sonny Hayes, and Damson Idris aka Joshua Pearce are back in the APXGP garage. Donning their racing gears, they are back on track alongside the real F1 drivers. By now, fans and drivers have become used to their presence. And maybe they count Pitt and Idris as one of them! But the filmmakers probably aren’t convinced about the authenticity incorporated in the film, so they have leveled up their plan.
The F1 movie team has come up with a unique opportunity for the fans sitting in the grandstands of Spa-Francorchamps. It isn’t hard to guess – yes, the viewers can become a part of this massive film project. The organizers have requested the audience in the Gold 1 grandstand to be in their seats during the shooting period. “The movie production would be hugely grateful to those ticket holders in blocks A, B, and C in Gold 1 to be in their seats from 11:35 ready to be part of the making of a major Hollywood movie!” They also flashed this message on a giant screen for the fans to know.

Yet another never-seen-before moment. Brad Pitt and his team are truly going beyond the limits. First, filming during live races, driving actual racing cars, and now including the actual audience in the filming of the movie. This is commendable! This is the perfect way to show the public’s connection with the sport.

Formula 1 is not just about speed and thrill. The sport relies solely on its viewers because, without them, the athletes are ‘nobodies’. Thus, the movie is probably trying to bring reliability among the fans, and this could play an important role in elevating the movie’s appeal to the audience. Especially when the film has already been heavily criticized, this move could be a game-changer. The audience will have something to look out for in the movie, with raw sentiments being captured. Fans would resonate with them, as they always experience such myriad emotions during the race.
This inclusion will make Brad Pitt’s movie more presentable to the audience. And maybe, the critics could keep aside their critical minds about the ‘boring’ and ‘basic’ title, or the dialogues. Whoever came up with the idea of filming a live audience in the grandstands – kudos to them! And yes, Lewis Hamilton’s partnership with Kosinski and Brad Pitt looks promising, but we’ve got to wait until the summer of 2025.
The integration of a live audience could be a groundbreaking moment that bridges the gap between reality and film. Moreover, the emotional connection that will be building in the process is unprecedented. By allowing fans to be part of the production, the filmmakers are not only enhancing the film’s authenticity but also deepening the connection between the sport and its supporters. This innovative approach could significantly elevate the movie’s appeal, especially in light of prior criticisms. As Brad Pitt and Co. continue to push the boundaries, they aim to offer a fresh perspective in every frame.
