Now, after a gap of 14 years, the Olympic Games are back in the form of the Beijing Winter Olympics 2022. With the curling competition underway, Team USA just won their mixed doubles match against China.

Team USA wins at Michael Phelps’ hunting ground

The conversion from pool to ice sheet

The organizers got to work and made a removable ice-making machine for the development of the curling arena. The pool got drained, and the workers assembled over 2500 steel beams and 1500 lightweight prefabricated concrete panels to bring about the structure. They can convert the ice sheets into a swimming pool in 20 days.

Hence, modern-day technology is impressive and makes things easier. They often regard the National Aquatics Center in Beijing as a modern-day engineering marvel. With all the technology in place, the legacy remains intact, as Phelps is remembered as a legend for his heroics here.
