The Big Bash League [https://www.bigbash.com.au/] (BBL) is going to add a new rule for the 2019-20 season. They are going to introduce a strategic time out for the upcoming league. Unlike the IPL, there will be only one time out in each innings and it will be only for a period of 90 seconds. The batting unit, however, will be allowed to take this time out in between the overs of 7 and 13. There are changes regarding the Super Over as well. After the ICC recently announced the new rule of Super Overs and introduced multiple Super Overs for a tied game as well as Super Over, BBL have decided to use the same rule in case in the final if in case the final game ends in a tie. However, for league game, the points will be divided between the two teams if the game will end in a tie and there won’t be multiple Super Overs for tht game. “We are always looking for ways to improve the competition for our fans, players and clubs,” Alistair Dobson, Cricket Australia [https://www.essentiallysports.com/tag/icc-cricket-world-cup-2019-australia/]‘s Head of Big Bash Leagues said. “The super over has been a discussion point globally after the ICC Cricket World Cup Final. We’ve seen the strategic time outs used in other T20 competitions around the world, and we feel that providing the batting team with the power to call a time out will add an extra tactical dimension to the outcome of the game, with the priority of maximising runs,” Dobson further added. BBL will begin with the game between Brisbane Heat and Sydney Thunder at The Gabba in Brisbane on December 17.
