LeBron James recently joined Kareem Abdul Jabbar as the only two players in NBA history to have top 10 career totals across three major statistics. After his incredible performance against the Hawks, LeBron James moved to Top 10 all-time in steals. This put him in the elite category with the Lakers legend. So it was natural that social media went into a frenzy about it. Especially since Isiah Thomas, the Pistons legend who is infamously known for his beef with Michael Jordan reacted to this.

LeBron James sealed a victory for the Lakers over the Hawks and completed this formidable feat. Subsequently, Isiah Thomas took to Twitter and reacted to his record matching performance. He called James and Kareem Abdul Jabbar the GOATs of basketball, yet again snubbing out Michael Jordan. This did not sit well with the NBA fans. They lashed out at him after the Pistons legend’s tweet ended with an emphatic “let it be known”.

What does this mean for the LeBron James vs Michael Jordan debate?

Since the very beginning of Michael Jordan’s career, Isiah Thomas and he were not fond of each other. Thomas retired as a player (in 1994) around a year after Jordan announced his first NBA retirement. So he had seen the growth and prime of Michael Jordan in his own.

And as a fan rightly observed, having previously said Michael is the GOAT, how has Kareem done anything since then for him to change his mind? However, does he not have the right to change his mind since James joined the league many years after Thomas retired?
