This August, the Minnesota Timberwolves added defensive giant Patrick Beverley to their roster. A former Clippers player, he returned to the Staples Center for the first time this regular season, but as an opposition. It goes without saying that the LA Clippers and the fans were welcoming, happy to have Beverley back in LA.

Moreover, during the press conference, the 33-year-old spoke about his time with the Clippers – looking back at his favorite moment and so on with the team.

Patrick Beverley on his time with the Clippers

“We turned this Laker city into a Clipper city and that’s all you can ask for,” he said. “We gave the fans something to be excited about”.

He added that as a basketball player, one gives everything to try and win the title each year. Now, while one cannot win it all, Beverley knows they did special things back with the Clippers. Last season, the Clippers made the Western Conference Finals, while the Lakers were eliminated after a Round 1 loss against the Phoenix Suns. Also, this was the first time in Steve Ballmer’s team’s history that they had qualified for the WCF.

In the end, Beverley added more praise for his former unit, referring to the Clippers as a ‘hell of a team’.

Fans reacted to Pat comparing the two LA franchises

Unsurprisingly, Beverley’s comments brought fans of both teams on Twitter, debating. “City to clippers from Lakers…lol…just a season ago they won chip…,” wrote one fan, while others reminded them of the Lakers situation last year.
