Los Angeles Lakers recorded their 16th win of the season against the Dallas Mavericks, thanks to Austin Reaves’ insane buzzer-beater. LeBron James powered the Lakers to a dominant start, but they threw away a comfortable lead, leading to overtime. However, Reaves saved them with a last-second three-pointer at the American Airlines Center.

The Lakers led the first quarter by 10 points and looked comfortable with the lead. However, they lost their lead in the 2nd quarter and were three points behind at half-time. They managed to close the gap in the 2nd half and the scoreboard read 93-93 at the end of the 2nd half.

In fact, both teams were on 11 points with just seconds left on the clock. It appeared that there would be another overtime. Austin Reaves then arrived with the game-winning three-pointer. The Lakers’ players ran towards the court to celebrate the buzzer-beater with Reaves after the final buzzer. They even celebrated with Austin Reaves inside the dressing room.

LeBron James and other Lakers stars celebrate Austin Reaves in the dressing room

Lakers star Trevor Ariza recently posted a story on his Instagram, where Lakers stars such as LeBron James and Anthony Davis are seen welcoming Reaves inside the dressing room. As Reaves entered the dressing room, LeBron James threw a basketball at him while DeAndre Jordan and Anthony Davis threw water on him from a bucket and a bottle, respectively. Here is the video of the same.

It was an insane game for the Lakers as they restricted the Mavericks to .500 this season. LeBron James led the scoring charts for the Lakers with 26 points. Russell Westbrook and Anthony Davis scored 23 and 20 points, respectively. Austin Reaves had a fairytale performance as he recorded 15 points off the bench.

Austin Reaves has been getting more opportunities lately due to the Lakers‘ injury woes. The  23-year-old has been utilizing his opportunities well and has certainly made his case to get regular minutes in LA.
