One cannot discuss this season’s MVP race without mentioning Stephen Curry. The Golden State Warriors icon has led the team to a 31-12 win-loss record while maintaining a high scoring average.
With a new pool of players trying to take up the highlight every year, Curry is a veteran amongst youngsters in the MVP race.

On a different note, by the looks of it, Curry seems aware of the age gap between the other candidates as opposed to him and Kevin Durant. The two virtuosos have been teammates before this, and are now playing for two different but strong contenders in the league.
In a recent interview with The Athletic’s Shams Charania, Curry spoke of the MVP race and his position as compared to younger stars.
Stephen Curry on being different from Giannis Antetokounmpo and other younger players
During the interview, Charania directly asked Curry about the MVP situation and how he views himself alongside Kevin Durant, Giannis Antetokounmpo, Nikola Jokic, and DeMar DeRozan. The 33-year-old seemed aware of the difference, mentioning the same.
“You’re trying to put in perspective all that we’ve done — I’m in my 13th year, KD is in his 15th year — and we’re still leading the charge and our teams are still fighting for championships and have realistic chances to get it done”.
He added that no matter what, it is difficult to remove oneself from what’s happening in real-time to compare it with what might have happened historically. “We’re trying to hold on for as long as we can, and we want to keep up and stay away from slowing down”.
Curry and Durant are both at the tail end of their prime, while someone like Giannis still has many years to go. In fact, players like Jokic and even Luka Doncic for that matter, are yet to enjoy the complete benefits of their prime.

Along with the MVP discussion, Curry also spoke about Klay Thompson and his iconic return to the court. Notably, he has let his splash brother know that there is no pressure on him, and he can take his time to play at that former level again. Of course, Thompson himself is aware that “April, May and June is what it’s all about”.
They also spoke of his new three-point record, facing his brother Seth Curry in Philadelphia and handling leadership of one of the most unique talented in the league.
