Over the past few years, Shaquille O’Neal has often revealed his various parenting techniques. Possibly a little different from what others opt for, the Los Angeles Lakers legend has been clear on what he believes in. During an appearance on a talk show a few years ago, O’Neal spoke at length about how he would parent his children.
By the looks of it, O’Neal seems to have two different rules for his daughters and sons. The reason, however, might not be what one is expecting.

Shaquille O’Neal has a different set of rules for his daughters as opposed to his sons
In 2018, O’Neal was on The Ellen Show, where he ended up talking about all his children completing two degrees. If they don’t complete their degrees, they will not be a part of his will. As per the retired NBA icon, he was the one who earned money, and his children will have to work hard to reap the benefits.
Additionally, Shaq had interesting rule was only for his daughters. “Well, my sons can date when they’re 18. And my daughters can date when they’re 24,” O’Neal told Ellen DeGeneres. When the host admitted that it seemed unfair, O’Neal did not shy away from agreeing that it is. However, he seems to want bigger things in life for his daughters.
“It’s not fair, but my daughters are much smarter than my boys. And I want them to always be focused. And I want them to realize that, hey, you have to be happy within yourself”.
He added that one can be happy by themselves, and then eventually they can do their own thing.
When Ellen asked him about a possible partner his daughters brought over before 24, O’Neal looked determined to ‘torture’ that individual. The four-time NBA champion stated that he has already tested all those techniques their partner could attempt.
