Shaquille O’Neal and Shaunie O’Neal have been separated for more than a decade now. However, they’re still in touch with each other and have a healthy relationship as co-parents. Shaq and Shaunie have four children – Shareef, Amirah, Shaqir, and Me’arah.
Shaq and Shaunie met each other for the first time in 1996 when the former joined Los Angeles Lakers in the NBA. The couple remained in a close relationship and married in 2002 at the infamous Beverly Hills Hotel in a private ceremony. They had four kids and remained in a close relationship with each other.

After five years, it was reported that Shaq has filed for a divorce but they reconciled shortly after that. They put apart the difference between them and their marriage remained intact. Later in 2009, Shaunie filed for a divorce, stating ‘irreconcilable differences’. The divorce was finalized in 2011 and the two separated. However, they’ve managed to be good co-parents despite the divorce.

Shaquille O’Neal opens up on not going public over any fight with Shaunie despite the divorce
Shaq recently appeared in ‘The Big Wig‘ podcast. During the podcast, he was asked about the issues between two divorced couples and going on social media after issues. Shaq said that he would never embarrass Shaunie in front of the world even when they’re fighting.
“It’s not about having issues,” Shaq said.
“Even if we’re fighting, I’m not going to embarrass her (Shaunie) amongst the world. Even if we’re arguing, no. Hell, no!”
“I would never do that,” Shaq reiterated when asked if he would go on social media about it.

Before their marriage, Shaq and Shaunie both had one child. Shaq has a daughter from his previous relationship with Arnetta Yardbourgh. Meanwhile, Shaunie has a son from her past relationship. However, they were a happy family and had four kids before and after their marriage.

Shaq had a prenuptial agreement and some of his assets were protected due to that after the divorce. He continues to pay $10,000 every month and an additional $10,000 per month for each of his four children with Shaunie. But Shaq and Shaunie are now on good terms and have managed to be good co-parents and an example to many divorced couples.
