Shaquille O’Neal was one of the best of his generation and played alongside some of the greatest players the NBA has seen. Shaq played alongside Kobe Bryant at the Lakers, where he won three straight championships during the early 2000s. He won his 4th championship with the Heat in 2006.
Shaq is a big admirer of the 22-year-old Grizzlies star Ja Morant. The Grizzlies drafted Morant in 2019 and he became the Rookie of the Year in 2020. He has been in an insane form this season and has earned a lot of praises from several NBA greats, including Shaquille O’Neal. Shaquille O’Neal admits Ja Morant has the attitude of Kobe Bryant
Former NBA star Shaquille O’Neal recently appeared in ‘The Big Wig‘ podcast. During the podcast, he was reminded of the Ja Morant-Kobe comparisons he made recently. To this, Shaq said that he wasn’t talking about the player and instead meant the attitude.
“I wasn’t talking about the player. I was talking about the attitude. When Kobe came in at 19, he knew he was the s**t, he just knew it. The coach will be like, ‘don’t do that play,’ Kobe would be like, ‘nope I’m doing it,” Shaq said.
“Like this kid is really freaking good, and he knows it. And there’s not a lot of people you can say that about in this league as a young player. That’s what I mean by that. He knows it, he wasn’t highly drafted, wasn’t highly talked about, made a name for himself late in the NCAA, but he knows he’s good. He knows that’s his team, and he’s playing really well. That’s what I meant by that.”
