One of the main reasons LeBron James blew up as early as he did in his life is because of the internet. In the social media era, a lot of LeBron’s following comes from his public image on the internet. Ever since he came into the league, LeBron was first swamped by the mainstream media, which then grew into attention on social media platforms. And from Instagram stories to his opinionated Tweets, LeBron uses the medium well to express himself.
However, the internet isn’t known for being the kindest place in the world. In an era where memes are entrenched in the culture, LeBron often becomes the trending joke. And now, like after the 2018 NBA Finals, LeBron’s expressions have swamped the internet with yet another viral meme.

How was the original meme created? 2018 NBA Finals
In the 2018 NBA Finals, the Cleveland Cavaliers made two crucial mistakes in Game 1. In the last play of game 1’s normal time, JR Smith did what fans would not expect from even a rookie in the NBA. With the game tied, JR Smith got a rebound in the final seconds of the fourth quarter and instead of passing it to an open LeBron James, he dribbled the ball out to the three-point line before passing to George Hill for an airball attempt at three.

In this process, the coach could have called a timeout, but even he did not do that. So LeBron’s reaction was in line with how the team handled the last play instead of trusting LeBron with it. And well, consequently (at least partly) LeBron left his hometown team for the Lakers.
