Russell Westbrook has come under the media’s criticism after struggling with his efficiency over the past few games. This poor run of performances has sparked rumors about Westbrook’s future in the franchise. With two star big men in Davis and James, the Lakers needed a reliable guard to complete this big three. Especially since they are up against teams like the Nets and Warriors who have their own strong big threes.
Westbrook was supposed to be the answer to their problems, but it hasn’t turned out that way.
Recently, he himself admits that he’s having a poor run of form which has sparked a lot of questions about his future and fit in the team. Subsequently, the media spotted an eye-brow-raising conversation at the end of the Nets vs Thunder game.

Russell Westbrook set for OKC return?
After the shocking victory over the Brooklyn Nets, they spotted the OKC Thunder guard Shai Gilgeous Alexander talking to Rich Paul, who is LeBron James‘ agent. While maybe Paul was there just to watch the game, with the trade deadline nearing, fans feel it may be regarding some business. Although it should not be misunderstood that Westbrook was not a potential answer to their problems. But his poor run of form has certainly cost the Lakers much more than they gained.
One major reason Westbrook is arguably being put under the microscope is that he is not putting up MVP numbers anymore. Imagine being so good that once your form staggers even a bit, the media goes in a frenzy about your future. One could easily call it the Westbrook curse.
Nevertheless, with the trade deadline approaching, will the Lakers move for Shai Gilgeous Alexander? Is he good enough to replace Westbrook? Have the Lakers already given up on the Former MVP? Or will they give him another opportunity? Let us know what you think about it.
