Joel Embiid matches Shaquille O’Neal’s record during a recent game
As per ESPN stats, Embiid completed 300 games this season. This means he is one of 10 players to make at least 25 points and 10 rebounds for his first 300 games. The only other player to do so is Shaquille O’Neal.
Additionally, this stat has been considered since the NBA-ABA Merger in 1976-77.

Embiid is also currently averaging 29.1 points, 10.8 rebounds, and 4.4 assists per game. His consistency has made him a viable MVP candidate, as many believe it is high time the Cameroonian star wins one. However, some add that the team needs to play even better for Embiid to finally win the MVP honor.
Can Embiid win the MVP award this season?
Having said that, the 76ers star has recently passed Nikola Jokic on the MVP ladder.
Moreover, Embiid also won the Eastern Conference Player of the Month honor in January. He averaged 34 points in his 14 appearances and was on the court for 32.1 minutes on average. The 76ers also maintained an 11-3 record, Embiid having scored at least 25 points in every game.
Interestingly, Embiid and Wilt Chamberlain are the only two players in the Sixers history to score at least 34-10-5 in 14-games. The highlight of the month remains his career-tying 50-point game during their game against the Orlando Magic. Of course, Embiid had to one-up everyone and make it the least number of minutes (27:03) someone played in a 50-point and 10-rebound game.
