The GOAT debate is something that will continue to go on. Michael Jordan and LeBron James are the names that regularly show up during these debates. Many former players, journalists, and fans have pitched in with their opinions on who’s the greatest but the discussions are endless.
The current generation saw LeBron James play and are in awe of his performances over the last two decades. However, they only got the opportunity to witness what it was like to be Michael Jordan in ‘The Last Dance’, and courtesy of the internet boom.
Jordan has won two three-peats, all with Chicago Bulls. However, he permanently retired in 2003 after two seasons with the Wizards. James, on the other side, is still going strong and has won four championships with all three teams he has played. In an old interview, Jordan talked about his comparisons with James.

Michael Jordan opens up on LeBron James comparisons
An old interview of Michael Jordan has gone viral on YouTube Shorts. In the video clip, Jordan admits that LeBron is among the best and has made his mark in the NBA. However, he added that comparison will never stop and reiterated that the two played in two different eras.
“I just think that you know we’re playing different era. He’s an unbelievable player. He’s one of the best players in the world, if not the best player in the world,” Jordan said.
“I know it’s your natural tendency to compare eras to eras, and it’s gonna continue to happen. I’m a fan of his, I love watching him play. But as you can see, our league is starting to expand on very talented players and I think he made his mark. He will continue to be so, do so, over a period of time. But when you start the comparisons, I think it is what it is.”
Indeed, there is no one way of ending the GOAT debate. Jordan has more championships and boasts two three-peats. James has better statistics in terms of points and is ahead of Jordan in the all-time scoring list.

In the end, it comes to choices and preferences. Some would admire Jordan’s ability to come back after 2 seasons and win a three-peat, while others would love LeBron’s longevity and clutch moments. As Jordan said, ‘it is what it is‘.
