The history of the NBA is full of what-ifs. Like, what if Charlotte never traded Kobe’s pick? What if Chris Paul actually joined Kobe at the Lakers? What if Michael Jordan never retired from basketball? For the greatest championship comeback of all time, what if LeBron James never blocked Andre Iguodala in Game 7 of the 2016 NBA Finals?
And what if Anthony Carter’s agent never forgot to extend his contract? What if Stephen Curry never joined the NBA? And the biggest of them all, what if Michael Jordan never pursued professional basketball? You read that right; it was actually a genuine possibility that Michael Jordan never played basketball. However, he would still have appeared regularly on television. Just not in the way one could imagine.

If Michael Jordan never played basketball, what would he have done?
The widely known best player in the history of NBA basketball, Michael Jordan could have been a weatherman. According to sources, Michael Jordan revealed an insane fact in 2015 about his alternatives to basketball. Jordan told a group of kids at his basketball camp in California what he would have done if he hadn’t been a basketball player.
He said, “I went to college. I got my degree in coastal geography”. He explained, “Everybody wants to know: What’s coastal geography? Well, it’s an introduction to meteorology. I always wanted to be the weatherman. Don’t laugh. It’s funny, but that’s what I really wanted to do.” Mind-boggling, isn’t it?

What would this mean for the Chicago Bulls and the NBA?
Let’s assume Michael Jordan never got drafted into the NBA. This would undoubtedly mean Charles Barkley could have been on the cards for Chicago Bulls. Consequently, a whole new era involving the rivalry between Hakeem Olajuwon and Charles Barkley could have meant a complete change in NBA history.

The debate over who is the greatest of all time could have many more NBA legends. Like Olajuwon, Barkley, Ewing, and Stockton who were all arguably robbed of NBA rings by Jordan. It might still not be a debate if LeBron James and Kobe Bryant still performed the way they did in their career. But it would rewrite and redefine NBA’s history books for sure.
