With a busy off-season with some big name signings, the Lakers looked like the team to beat in the regular season. With stars like LeBron James and Anthony Davis even beginning the game in great fashion, the Purple and Gold were trending in the right direction.
But after the first two games, the Lakers look in shambles. With a feeble defense and overdependence on stars like LeBron and Davis the Frank Vogel coached side looked like the 2020-21 team all over again.
To make matters worse, the team has multiple injury concerns as well, as three of their key rotational guards in Wayne Ellington, Talen Horton-Tucker and Kendrick Nunn are all set to miss their next game against the Grizzlies.

Magic Johnson predicts landslide victory for Lakers
After the Lakers’ dismal start to the season, the team certainly look in a whole lot of trouble. For their next game, the Purple and Gold are taking on the unbeaten Memphis Grizzlies. Led by a talented guard like Ja Morant, Memphis have been impressive to say the least.
While the Grizzlies did make a plethora of moves, the young side look like a great all-round team. They have even trounced Lakers’ cross city rivals the LA Clippers in their last game.

Despite all of these, Hall of Famer and Lakers’ legendary point guard Magic Johnson is confident of his team’s chances. In a recent tweet Johnson predicted that the Purple and Gold will have their best game of the season and pull off their first victory of the season.
This game is certainly very crucial for the Lakers to vent off some of the pressure on them. Given the number of stars they have, they are expected to trounce any opposition. Defeating an unbeaten team will certainly set a good testament for the league.

So far the Lakers are leading the game after the end of the first quarter with a 29-24 scoreline. Maintaining the lead in the second quarter, though, will be very important. In their first two games, the Lakers have seen their slender leads slip through in the second.
