Los Angeles Lakers GM Rob Pelinka and co. have worked tirelessly during the off-season, hoping to add depth to their roster.
Many would say that the Lakers have an aging roster and that most of their players are past their prime. But the franchise is the joint-most successful NBA team right now and will aim to earn a few titles in the coming seasons.
Carmelo Anthony is a 10-time All-Star and has just signed with the Lakers in a bid to win his first NBA championship. The 37-year-old may not be the same player he used to be 4-5 seasons back, however; he has got what it takes to win. Veteran forward Carmelo’s addition will surely help the team in filling the role of a player who can convert spot-up shots. Carmelo’s performance has undoubtedly declined in the past few years, but his previous two seasons with the Blazers saw an improvement. Many would think that LeBron‘s friendship with Carmelo would be the reason for signing the 18-year veteran. But Pelinka has already made it clear that he expects Carmelo to step up when the Lakers need him the most.

Carmelo Anthony boasts a career average of 23 PPG, 2.8 APG, and 6.3 RPG. His free throw percentage (.890) last season for the Blazers was the best in his career. While he didn’t start most of the games in Portland, he made himself available whenever needed. Who knows if he will start every game or not, but one can be assured he is going to give it his all for his first NBA championship.
