LeBron James has been one of the most consistent players the league has ever seen. Ever since his debut in the league, LBJ has established himself as one of the best players to ever play the game of basketball. Unlike many other players though, Bron has continued to dominate.

Thanks to the incredible physique and the work ‘the King’ puts in each off-season, the 4-time MVP is always ready to dominate and has stayed at the top of his game. Given his immaculate work rate and his unique 6’8″ frame, James is also one of the most versatile players in the league.

Why did LeBron James lose weight in the off-season?

The Lakers’ in the 2020-21 season were one of the busiest teams in the off-season. After playing as the primary point-guard and winning the championship, LBJ wanted to play in his usual small-forward position opening the door for the Lakers to sign Dennis Schroder as the starting PG.

But the experiment failed enormously as the Lakers eventually crashed out in the very first round. This season, the Lakers have yet again made some massive moves bringing in superstar Russell Westbrook and multiple veterans. The result of this is a potential positional change for LeBron in the starting lineup.

According to multiple reports, the Lakers are planning to play with a small ball lineup with Anthony Davis playing as the five. Given the depth of Lakers’ in forward position, James will likely play as the power-forward in the team.

This is certainly familiar territory for ‘the King’ who played the final two seasons of his Heat career as a PF. But his reported slimming down might puzzle some given his positional switch. But the Lakers’ forward might have done it for good reason.

Given his massive frame, more weight for Bron, equates to a slower LBJ. This was visible in his very first season with the Lakers and even in last season’s playoffs, where Bron struggled defensively. Even injuries have been a staple in these seasons as he endured a groin and an ankle injury.

This new transformation will definitely be a big plus for James for the upcoming season. A faster Bron will be lead his team easily in fast breaks and might also result in some thunderous stoppages. Probability of injuries will also be less given the decrease in pressure.

While many might see a 6’8″ power-forward as somewhat undersized, the 36-year-old’s incredible defensive skills and his ability to read plays will surely make up for the same. LBJ might not look the most intimidating figure right now, but his performances on the court will be a sight to behold. How do you think will James’ weight loss affect the Lakers?
