Los Angeles Lakers are now 5-4 this season after a disappointing loss against Oklahoma City Thunder. The Thunder did the double over the Lakers in less than 10 days. In both games, the Lakers missed LeBron James due to injury. This time, according to several reports, LeBron will miss at least a week due to an abdominal strain.
Despite boasting one of the strongest rosters in the NBA, the Lakers look all over the place without LeBron. With a team that has Anthony Davis and Russell Westbrook in their starting lineup and has Carmelo Anthony coming on from the bench, it’s shocking that they rely so much on a 36-year-old veteran.
However, LeBron is not any other veteran. At 36, he is among the best players in the league and single-handedly runs the games for the Lakers.

But he sustained an abdominal strain earlier this week vs the Houston Rockets and is out of NBA action for at least a week. Lakers coach Frank Vogel has provided a big update on his injury.

Frank Vogel provides an update on LeBron James injury
Ahead of the game vs OKC, Frank Vogel addressed the media and said that LeBron’s injury is concerning. Frank also said that LeBron felt something pulling in the final quarter vs Rockets earlier this week.
“Hopefully he’ll be back soon… He doesn’t know exactly what happened… He felt something pulling (in the fourth quarter),” Frank Vogel told the reporters ahead of the Lakers game vs Thunder.

Vogel also added that this has nothing to do with the groin injury LeBron had earlier. LeBron has already missed two games this season due to ankle soreness and is set to miss some more. He is expected to be out for at least a week. Vogel also added that the team is ‘responsible with his minutes’.
“We want to be responsible with his minutes, and, like you just said, get to the finish line as healthy as possible, but also as in rhythm as possible,” Vogel said. “That’s the balance that we strike throughout the year.” [h/t SBNation]

Last season, the Lakers struggled due to injury issues as Anthony Davis and LeBron James missed several games. They crashed out of the playoffs in the first round itself. However, this time around, they prepared themselves for the worst with so many top signings during the off-season. But LeBron James is irreplaceable, and it was visible in the game vs Thunder.
