King James, despite being 37, played the most minutes (36) for the Lakers against the Clippers. It was a must-win game for the Lakers, considering the Clippers are just above them at the conference table. He appeared before the media after the loss and was asked about his future after this season. James, however, gave a cryptic answer that involved Russell Westbrook and Anthony Davis‘ future at the Lakers.

LeBron James discusses his future with the Lakers

James’ future has been the talking point in the NBA for the past few days. He was asked if the Lakers are the team he sees himself playing beyond one year. However, LeBron emphasized that he sees himself playing for the ‘franchise’.

“This is a franchise I see myself being with,” said the 37-year-old.

James’ cryptic answer could be pointed towards his teammates, Anthony Davis and Russell Westbrook. Davis has been injury-prone for the last few seasons, while Westbrook has failed to make a mark this season. This could possibly be a hint towards Davis and Westbrook’s future at the Lakers. James also added that he lives in the moment and sees himself playing for the Lakers. He also reiterated his desire to play alongside his son, Bronny James.

“I’m here. I literally live in the moment. I live in a moment and I see myself being with the purple and gold as long as I can play. But I also have a goal that if it’s possible, I don’t even know if it’s possible, but if I can play with my son. I would love to do that.”

Indeed, anyone in James’ position would want to take a shot at the opportunity of playing alongside their children. However, it’s not certain if Bronny would be eligible for the 2023 Draft or not, but that is the earliest he could make it to the NBA.
