LeBron James is famous for giving his 100% in every game that he plays. He seemingly brings his A-game to every game every time he is on the court. However, coming into year 19 of his career, he has realized the importance of conserving some of his energy for more important games.
Amidst the losing streak of the Lakers in the preseason, LeBron played his first game in the preseason against the Warriors. The defeat of the Lakers in that match-up was their third defeat in a row. Consequently, in the post-game press conference, reporters asked James questions about the game. And the legendary player was quick to shut down the critics questioning the Lakers’ performance.
LeBron says that being on the floor and playing against new opponents in the preseason can help you get ready for the season, but adds "I'm not gonna learn anything from the preseason at this point in my career. Nothing. Zero."

LeBron James reflecting on the pre-season loss to the Warriors
Most of the franchises generally perceive pre-season games as warm-ups. They try new offensive plays, new starting line-ups, new rotations, and several things they wouldn’t do in a regular-season game. Therefore, players don’t take the results seriously.

Coming into his 19th season in the NBA, LeBron has played in 18 seasons of pre-season games before. So he has learned everything he could from these games. He frankly admitted that he has nothing to learn from pre-season games at this point in his career. “Nothing. Zero” was his conclusion when asked about what he learned from the loss against the Warriors.
The only take-away from the game that LeBron could have is chemistry with the new players on the roster. But he even admitted that he could achieve that on the practice court in a way.

He said that he knew what to expect going into the game. LeBron said that it was “not a surprise to anyone” that they tried some new things on the court that might not have been effective.
LeBron says that the Lakers have had great practices so far.
