Rajon Rondo signed for the Atlanta Hawks ahead of last season on a multi-year deal. However, the Hawks traded him to the Clippers earlier this year. The Clippers then traded him to the Memphis Grizzlies last week. But in an eventful turn of events, the former Los Angeles Lakers guard, Rajon Rondo, is not expected to be with Memphis (his ninth NBA team) ahead of the 2021-22 NBA season. This is according to The Daily Memphian.
Rondo spent most of his playing career with the Boston Celtics. While he won his first NBA title with the Celtics, his second NBA championship came with the Lakers in 2020. Surprisingly, the news of Memphis not expecting Rondo to be with them this season has sent Lakers fans into a frenzy. If this turns out to be true, it will be the third trade of the year for Rajon Rondo.

@RajonRondo is a great mentor to young players but I can also see him back next to lebron and AD and Russell and vet group. @Lakers should bring DO back if they can… would be a great win for them. Rondo IQ is sooo valuable! pic.twitter.com/PI3cGqu9Jr

Rajon Rondo in the ‘20 PS made several heads up plays defensively to disrupt offenses & ignite transition for the Lakers.
His timing & play recognition stood out to me in these clips. Also to my surprise he made several ball handlers look uncomfortable.

Rajon Rondo, who played 27 games for Atlanta and LA Clippers last season, started just twice. Rondo averaged 3.9 PPG, 3.5 RPG, and 2 APG for Atlanta. After being traded to the Clippers, he played 18 games and averaged 7.6 PPG.
Subsequently, the Clippers traded him to Memphis Grizzlies in a deal that involved Eric Bledsoe. The Memphis Grizzlies have Ja Morant and some talented youngsters at their disposal. In the offseason, the franchise has seen 8 players walk through their doors and they have also let go of five players from their roster. Given that they got a young team, it looks like Rajon Rondo’s future lies somewhere else.
The Lakers management under Rob Pelinka has built a strong squad with a perfect balance of starters and backups. As they have increased their roster depth massively, they will mount a serious title chase. Rajon Rondo was an important member of the Lakers squad during their 2020 championship-winning season.
