Klay Thompson, after two years of absence, is closer to his NBA comeback than he has ever been. The Golden State Warriors icon last played the 2019 NBA Finals and has been sidelined since then. While he was supposed to return last season, he suffered an Achilles injury days before the preseason games began. Now, Thompson is looking healthier than he has in a while.
The Splash Brother is not yet cleared for all types of drills but is still back at the Warriors training camp as a full participant. Even though he might not be allowed to do contact drills just yet, Thompson seems to be enjoying and exercising all on his own.

In an Instagram story, Thompson shared a clip of himself swimming after the Warriors practice. “On my Tim Duncan/ @m_phelps00 post practice recovery swim,” he wrote. Michael Phelps shared Thompson’s story, telling the NBA icon to ‘Get it!“.
Fans were happy to see Thompson out enjoying himself, as they reacted on social media. Some fans were aware of their own irrational thoughts, wondering if there will be sharks in the bay. Most seemed to be worried for the 31-year-old, asking him to just be safe and sound. “He’s got a great freestyle,” one fan commented, while others agreed.

As mentioned, Thompson is not yet ready to play just yet. Despite that, everyone is just happy to have him back on the court. “Everyone’s excited that Klay is out on the floor,” Warriors head coach Steve Kerr said, adding that Thompson did everything in practice. They did not, however, scrimmage or have any live contact. “Klay is just so happy to be playing and we’re also happy to see him be a part of it“.
Thompson has been shooting well, which was never something anyone was worried about. His movement on the court, however, will be monitored. Naturally, the team does not want to rush Thompson, who will need time to slip back into place.
