He won his NBA Championship with the Dallas Mavericks where he had teammates like Dirk Nowitzki and Jason Terry to make them a force to reckoned with. Even to this day, Terry remembers Kidd as the one who willingly took the assignment to guard Kobe Bryant. By willing, he means Kidd insisted on it. Instead of Shawn Marion in the 2011 Playoff, Terry insisted he guards Kobe. While the team felt it was a bad matchup, Terry proved them wrong.

After the 2011 NBA Playoffs, Jason Terry recalled their game against the Los Angeles Lakers. It appalled him that Jason Kidd was insisting his matchup is Kobe Bryant. However, he was even more surprised by how well Kidd did in that role.
He said, “That was the toughest 30 points I’ve ever seen Kobe Bryant get. And I’ve never seen someone block Kobe’s shot. J-Kidd, on one possession, Kobe goes to his patented fadeaway, comes behind, blocks his shot. I was so impressed. It took everything in me not to just go hug that dude. That’s Kobe Bryant, our Michael Jordan.”
Jason Kidd played with Michael Jordan, LeBron James, and Kobe Bryant. That puts him in an elite list of players who can actually give an inside take on the GOAT debate. While answering who he thinks is the best player he played against, he said Michael Jordan.
