The Los Angeles Lakers recently finished their Media Day obligations. The players engaged with the press about their upcoming season through press conferences and more. Many reporters focused their questions on the new Lakers addition, Russell Westbrook.

Since Westbrooks’ addition to the team, people are most excited about the relationship between the Lakers’ main trio, Russell Westbrook, LeBron James, and Anthony Davis. Therefore, it was unsurprising that most questions were about Westbrook and the Lakers superstar trio.

Anthony Davis on his excitement to play with Russell Westbrook

In his Media Day press conference, a reporter asked Anthony Davis about how Russell Westbrook would fit into the team. Davis then talked about how Russell’s energy and his pace excite him the most.

He said, “For me, I’m very excited just you know running the floor with him, you know. Elite passer, as we all know um elite lob passer, catching a couple lobs from him.”

“But I think his energy, his motor that he always plays with, and always brings to every game, is something that’s going to propel all of us to you know play like that for 82. Because he… there’s not one game where he doesn’t have that energy in that motor and we can feed off of that.”

Davis was trying to explain how after 50-60 games in the season, almost every player is naturally going to feel fatigued. It is in those moments when the roster will look towards ‘Russ’ as an inspiration. As seeing him extremely energetic, even under those circumstances, could be beneficial for the team’s morale.

Therefore, he concluded by saying “When you have a guy like that, that’s bringing that energy in that motor. It gets you going.”

Anthony Davis and LeBron James missed a lot of games last season because of injuries. James missed 27 games, mostly because of a high right ankle sprain. Whereas, Davis missed 36 because of pain in his Achilles tendon, knee, and groin.

However, fortunately, Russell has a history of remaining healthy throughout most of the seasons he has played. So the Lakers will most likely not play a game when either of these stars is not on the court.
