1992 United States Men’s Basketball team is regarded by many as the greatest basketball team of all time. The US roster for the 1992 Olympics boasted some of the greats of the game, such as Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen. That era was full of superstars, and it was hard for the coach to pick the best roster. While many stars made it to the roster, several others missed the opportunity. Detroit Pistons legend Isiah Thomas and Shaquille O’Neal were some elite players who missed on the roster.

Isiah Thomas had recently won two NBA titles with the Pistons and became the MVP in 1990. But despite that, he missed the final roster. In an old television show, Isiah Thomas acknowledged that he doesn’t mind Jordan for not wanting him on the team. But he destroyed Scottie Pippen for the same.

Isiah Thomas acknowledges he doesn’t mind Michael Jordan but destroys Pippen

Former Detroit Pistons star appeared in an old show where they showed a clip of Scottie Pippen talking about not wanting Isiah Thomas on the Dream Team. In the clip, the host asked Pippen if Jordan wanted Isiah on the team. To this, Pippen replied, “I can’t speak for Michael but, no, I did not want him on the team.”

Isiah Thomas then reflected on the statement made by six-time NBA champion Scottie Pippen. Isiah said that he’s fine with those statements if they’re coming from Michael Jordan or Larry Bird.

“I don’t mind Michael Jordan saying ‘I didn’t want Isiah to be on the Dream Team’,” Isiah said.

“I don’t mind if Larry Bird said ‘I don’t want Isiah to be on the Dream Team’. But if Scottie Pippen says ‘I don’t want Isiah to be on the Dream team’? Man, come on. You can’t say nothing.”

Michael Jordan, Scottie Pippen, Larry Bird, Charles Barkley, Magic Johnson, Karl Malone, Patrick Ewing, John Stockton were some of the names that made it to the ‘Dream Team‘ roster selected by coach Chuck Daly. Christian Laettner was the only college star to make the cut, and another college star, Shaquille O’Neal, missed out due to him. However, Shaq has accepted the fact that Christian deserved to be picked.

Isiah Thomas was selected for the 1980 Olympics roster, but the US boycotted the Moscow Olympics, and as a result, Isiah couldn’t play. He was also named for the 1994 World Championships, but he injured himself and, hence, was left out. But it’s not like Isiah didn’t have a national team career. The Piston legend has played and won the gold at the 1979 Pan American Games.
