Shaquille O’Neal and Kobe Bryant formed a unique partnership on the court for the Lakers in the late 90s and early 2000s. They helped the Lakers win a historic three-peat of championships.
However, despite their brilliant chemistry on the court, they weren’t the best of friends off the court. ‘Django Unchained’ star Jamie Foxx was also aware of their beef and recently explained his role in Shaq’s life at that time.

Kobe and Shaq achieved so much during their Lakers days. But their feud during the early 2000s became the top headline at that time. However, Shaq left the Lakers in 2004 for Miami Heat and won a championship there. Since then, the two tried to de-escalate their feud and improved their relationship.
In fact, Shaq and Kobe became close friends in the past decade.

Jamie Foxx talks about Shaquille O’Neal during the Shaq-Kobe feud
Academy Award winner Jamie Foxx recently appeared in the ‘Full Send Podcast’. During the podcast, he discussed his role in Shaq’s life during the infamous Shaq-Kobe feud.
“I’ve known it for years, man. I would talk to Shaq when he was going through sh*t in LA. Because it was tough. Him and Kobe was contentious and stuff,” Jamie Foxx said.

He continued, “But when they won the championship, you know what Shaq did? Shaq’s on Ventura, on a motorcycle, like 7’9″. I said ‘man, come to my house, right down the way’. So Shaq gets on a f**king chopper and rides down Ventura Boulevard. The whole city is following him and then he comes over to my crib and everybody’s there and he literally looked me. My crib looked so small when he walked in and then we hung out. We played like three on three or something like that. But he’s always been a cool dude.”
Kobe and Shaq had a great relationship after they retired from the sport. In fact, Kobe’s tragic death in 2020 shocked Shaq, who always gets emotional talking about Kobe.

On the other hand, Shaq and Jamie Foxx have also been close friends for a long time now. Foxx was even a part of Shaq’s roast show back in 2003. The former Lakers star is a global celebrity and no wonder he is friends with some of the most famous celebrities from all around the world.
