Coming after a difficult loss at the hands of city rivals Los Angeles Lakers, the LA Clippers bounced back well in their second seeding game. Doc Rivers and his team faced and easily defeated the New Orleans Pelicans. Moreover, Doc had some pleasant words to say about Zion Williamson before the teams played their second seeding game.

We all know that Zion is a beast and his capabilities on the court are way beyond our imagination. The 20-year-old forward has not been particularly enjoying his rookie season as it was barred by an injury and the NBA’s hiatus.

However, Doc Rivers being the genius that he knows about the quality of a player like Zion Williamson. Besides his basketball skills, Doc is a huge fan of the youngster’s personality as well. Here is what the Clippers coach said about Zion before their game against the Pelicans:

“He’s a freak. Forget the basketball up front, I just love his demeanor, his personality… very skilled. Terrific passer.”

“Doc adds Zion looks like the guy that players love to play with and can attract other players,” ESPN’s Ohm Youngmisuk wrote on his twitter. Zion can certainly take and cherish this compliment, coming from a legendary NBA coach like Doc Rivers.

Zion Williamson still under restricted minutes

NBA fans were excited when commissioner Adam Silver announced that there will be 13 teams from the West for the restart. The reason being that we could be seeing a potential first-round playoff matchup between the Lakers and the Pelicans. However, that is now highly unlikely to happen.

In the two games that they Pelicans have played and lost, Zion did not play a huge role. In fact, the #1 pick of the 2019 draft only played a combined time of 29 minutes in both games.

Zion is under a minutes restriction as he recently exited and re-entered the bubble to attend to a family matter. Even though he completed the mandatory quarantine period, the Pelicans’ medical staff need to determine when the explosive forward can chip in with maximum minutes for a game.

Obviously Zion is not happy with the process at all. NBA Insider Chris Haynes expressed his take on the matter after Pelicans’ tight loss against the Utah Jazz. “I’ll say this, Zion was pissed,” Haynes said, in a recent episode of ‘The Dan Patrick Show.’
