The Lakers finally made their debut as they faced off against the Warriors in their season opener. With the likes of Russell Westbrook, LeBron James and Anthony Davis, the Lakers were clear favorites to win the match.

But despite some incredible performances by the likes of LeBron James and AD, the Lakers’ faltered as they lost 121-114. Given how the Lakers’ started off their season, many ex-players and pundits have been critical of the Purple and Gold.

With two former MVPs and multiple All-Stars, though, the Lakers have a star-studded lineup and are projected to have one of the strongest regular seasons and are the outright favorites in the West.

Robert Horry has a bold claim about Lakers’ record

The Lakers certainly struggled to make an impact in their season opener. Although they did lead in the first half, their defense fizzled out in the second half. Especially the supporting cast with LeBron and Davis underperformed.

After their season opener performance, Lakers’ legend Robert Horry certainly made some concerning predictions. “I think in the first 20 games; I think they may be five and 15 you know because they’re trying to figure this thing out and then they go on a run.”

Horry explained why he thinks the Lakers will struggle initially. “I’m only saying that because they have a lot of things to figure out man. They got to figure out their rotations, they got to figure out you know who the mid uh the defensive schemes…. Most veteran teams can figure out on the fly but they haven’t been together long enough to figure out on the fly.”

While Horry might be correct with the claim that the Lakers might struggle to figure out their defensive schemes and rotations, the lineup is star-studded and experienced. With the likes of LeBron and Davis with Westbrook as well, the Purple and Gold can score easy buckets.

An easy schedule with teams likes Spurs, Rockets and Thunder facing off against the Lakers, the team will expect to get some results. Do you think LeBron and Co. will go 5-15 or is Horry’s claim simply blasphemous? Let us know in the comments section down below.
