Many regard Michael Jordan as the greatest of all time for his domination with the Bulls in the 90s. However, after two retirements, he made another comeback to the NBA in 2001. Jordan signed a two-year deal with Washington Wizards and even took the executive role in the franchise.

3-time All-Star Gilbert Arenas signed with the Wizards in 2003 after becoming a restricted free agent. He almost missed out on playing alongside Michael Jordan, who had to leave the Wizards after two seasons.

Jordan could have stayed with the Wizards, however, he was fired by the owner in the summer of 2003. That is a different story altogether.

Gilbert Arenas offended by Michael Jordan in the Jordan camp

Arenas has been a Jordan fan but once he was offended by Jordan in the camp.

The Florida-born former point guard once attended Jordan camp and scored 40 points in the game. His performance impressed Jordan, but Jordan compared him with his former teammate Randy Brown. Arenas recently revealed that the comparison offended him.

“I went to Jordan camp, and I had like 40 (points) and he was like ‘oh man you remind me of one of the players on my team’. And I’m like ‘oh I remind him of like Pippen or himself’. And he’s like ‘yeah you remind me of you know Randy Brown’,“Gilbert said.

“I was like, ‘he don’t even play. I’m a scorer, I’m an assassin. You don’t compare me to Randy Brown’. I’m thinking the whole night I’m never passing the MJ again in these games. You know so, I was offended.”

Randy Brown spent five seasons in Chicago and won a three-peat with the Bulls. He had a significant contribution to the team as he averaged 5 PPG for the Bulls. However, Randy started from the bench for the majority of the games.

Arenas was offended by the fact that he was compared to a non-starter. He expected Jordan to name Pippen, or maybe even himself. However, it’s unknown if Jordan jokingly said that to mess with Gilbert or he actually meant that. But Gilbert’s reaction while explaining the incident was hilarious, and he took it on a lighter note.
