For years, Giannis Antetokounmpo and the Milwaukee Bucks shut down trade rumors and chased the evasive NBA title. Last season, the Bucks finally won their NBA title with Giannis, giving fans and the Greek Freak a reason to celebrate. However, during a recent interview, Giannis ended up making a bold statement about his stay in Milwaukee – which might not be as long term as many would like.

The Greek icon has been with the team since his debut in 2013, slowly making his mark as one of the NBA’s best players. That being said, not winning a championship for years made people question his decision to stay with the Bucks. In the end, his $228 million, five-year with the team put a pause to many of those speculations.

Will Giannis Antetokounmpo leave the Milwaukee Bucks?

Now, everyone knows Giannis made his decision to stay with the Bucks it was not as easy as leaving. Then, within months, the Bucks won what they wanted. And now, the back-to-back NBA MVP (2019, 2020) might go looking for a new challenge – possibly somewhere else.

That being said, Giannis knew that bringing the title home was not easy. “It was very hard, but we did. Very, very hard. I just love challenges. What’s the next challenge? The next challenge might not be here,” he told GQ. The man has always been looking for a challenge of sorts, and his statement does not mean he is looking for a way out of the city once the title is won.

His agent, Alex Saratis, also spoke about Giannis leaving the organization. As per Saratis, he does not think the Bucks star is about to leave immediately but is only thinking about what his next step might be. Since he has done what felt impossible in Milwaukee, he needs his next challenge.

A possibility will be to repeat, after which Giannis may once again look for another challenge. “When you think about it from a basketball perspective, by the age of 26, this kid has accomplished everything. So sometimes you’re going to have to manufacture what those challenges are”.

Giannis comments on the city of Milwaukee

He added that he and his family love the city, which they chose to stay in, and which they love. Which has taken care of them. “In two years, that might change. I’m being totally honest with you. I’m always honest. I love this city, I love this community. I want to help as much as possible”.
