In his recent podcast episode, Shaquille O’ Neal gets real about his marriage and talks about how the divorce from ex-wife Shaunie, impacted him mentally. The four-time NBA champion and Lakers legend reflected on his days alone after the split-up. 

The former Los Angeles Lakers center, Shaquille O’ Neal, gave his takes on the various stories happening in the NBA on his recent podcast episode ‘The Big Three.’ In a particular segment, he got real about his divorce and talked about infidelity in marriage.

Shaquille O’Neal felt completely lost in a 76000 sq ft mansion

‘Superman’ found success immediately after entering the league. The 7 ft Freak Athlete was dominating the league, putting up monster stats. He was the most sought-after young superstar in the league, and the teams were willing to pay him ‘Big Money’ to play for them.

After his tenure in Orlando, Shaq signed with the Los Angles Lakers. He was living a lavish lifestyle in Hollywood. He married Shaunie in 2002, and they had 4 children together. But this lifestyle would get the better of him when the couple split up in 2007 due to reasons which Shaq would take responsibility for later on.

As it turns out, Shaq was dealing with some serious mental issues after the split-up. He refused to utter the ‘D’ (Depression) word on the podcast but talked about how he had to deal with something very similar. The Big Diesel would return home to find no kids, wife, or family. He had made it; he had it all, but he failed in his marriage, which cost him his kids. The Hall of Famer regrets it to this day.

I’m not gonna use the D-word because I know a lot of people are suffering from that,” Shaq stated. “But I was all the way down.

In other words, the absence of his kids at home adversely impacted the four-time NBA champion. He felt lonesome in his massive 76000 square feet mansion without his family around him. “When I lost that by being stupid, it killed me,” Shaq lamented.

Shaq refuses to comment on the Ime Udoka situation

While discussing the recent Ime Udoka and Adam Levine situation Shaq refused to comment on the situation as he admits that he was a ‘serial cheater’ himself. He remarked that he doesn’t want to come out as a hypocritical person.
