Resting Embiid could be a good move from the Sixers, as he has also been dealing with his right knee soreness. This is the same knee he tore his meniscus during the 1st round of the playoffs last season. However, the MRI scans have reported no serious concern and he could be back as early as Wednesday.

The Sixers had a dreadful defense last season and were ranked second-last. Embiid could be key to turning the situation around this season. The Sixers are ready to sacrifice a few games to get him back to fitness. Embiid is important if the Sixers want to contend for the playoffs this season. The Sixers signed 28-year-old Andre Drummond during the off-season to bolster their roster. Drummond could now come in handy in Embiid’s absence.
