Charles Barkley has often maintained his honest opinions irrespective of what others think. This season, Barkley seems to be calling out the Los Angeles Lakers and their performance. Despite LeBron James leading the team, the Lakers are nowhere near to being the title contenders everyone thought they would be.

With Russell Westbrook, Anthony Davis, and James on one team, everyone expected a great season from the Lakers. However, the team is currently placed ninth in the Western Conference and will be eligible for the play-in tournament that takes place.

Barkley, in a recent podcast appearance, made sure that everyone was aware of their current status.

Charles Barkley remains firm on his opinion about the Los Angeles Lakers

While on the podcast, Barkley was asked about the Nets first. Eventually, the 58-year-old ended up mentioning the Lakers – who he seems tired of talking about. “The Lakers stink and everybody still talks about them every day like they legitimate and they aren’t. They stink”.

Though he went on to talk about Kevin Durant and the Nets, Barkley has spoken about the Lakers and their management in the past as well.

What more has Barkley said?

Previously, while on Inside the NBA, Barkley slammed the management for being cowards. Even though Russell Westbrook and head coach Frank Vogel were blamed, Barkley blamed the management for actually putting them together. “I don’t care who wins, I just want the season to be over so we can go play golf and fish. But the Lakers are such wussies,” Barkley added.

Having said that, Barkley’s word has received enough support from fans as well. While many have defended their favorite team, even loyal Lakers fans know their season has been in trouble for a long time.

Apart from James, the Lakers have been struggling to hold on their own. Westbrook dealt with a difficult patch, where his time with the Lakers was questioned. Though the team will most likely play the play-in tournament and play the playoffs, everyone seems to have expected more.
