UEFA fines Barcelona as fans display pro-Catalonia banners in the 2015 Champions League Finals.
UEFA’s disciplinary panel has imposed a 30,000 euros ($33,000) fine on the Spanish Club. According to the report, ” UEFA rules prohibit political, religious and offensive banners and gestures at matches it organizes.”
The banners were calling for the independence of Catalan from Spain. This is not the first time that the fans have demanded such a thing.
It happened earlier in the 2015 Copa Del Rey Finals.
Barcelona had earlier been imposed to a transfer ban by FIFA and this incident is another example of the club falling to the actions of another major football governing body.
There is still no news on whether Barcelona will appeal to the actions taken by the committee or not.
